A bit of every-thing

Thing Is Back with a Lineup Geared Toward Music Discovery

Sasquatch!'s spiritual successor returns to historic Fort Worden with a bounty of music and visual arts programming.

Luminarium, a traveling art installation that makes use of light and negative space, will appear at Thing 2022.

Back for the first time since their sold-out inaugural year in 2019, Thing brings music, comedy, and visual art talent to Port Townsend this summer.

If the tagline “music and arts and other things” didn’t give you enough context, Thing attendees can expect a weekend of eclectic entertainment offerings in a relaxed setting that matches the chill, exploratory vibe the producers aim for. Festival programming is spread across two primary stages (one a decommissioned balloon hangar built for military observation balloons–you’re welcome for the trivia tidbit) and outdoor spaces at historic Fort Worden.

Festival producers Seattle Theatre Group (STG) and Adam Zacks, perhaps best known as the founder of the acclaimed Sasquatch! Festival, are committed to making the event accessible in every sense. Measures like ASL interpretation, special viewing areas, modified interactive sessions, and sensory break areas led by Seattle-based organization Sensory Access help create an inclusive environment for all performers and attendees. Additionally, children twelve and under attend for free.

Tickets, both single day and three-day full access passes, are on sale now.
